Frequently Asked Questions About Five CBD

CBD stands for Cannabidiol. Discovered in the 1940’s, it is one of the over 100 identified compounds that are found inside of the Cannabis family of plants.

While all of our products are based on CBD, we go one step further at Five. We believe the entire hemp plant can be beneficial and go through extra steps to make sure our products are full of minor cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and all the other compounds that make hemp special.

What does that do for you? The benefits that you receive will go far beyond that of a traditional CBD product. You can truly feel the difference within an hour of consuming.

Will Five CBD make me “high”?

These products will not create the effects of marijuana, but you will definitely feel a difference mentally. For this reason, we recommend starting off slow and taking one serving size each. Our extra strength tinctures and gummies are recommended for those 18 years or older due to noticeable amounts of THC in them.

Are Five Products legal in my state?

All of Five’s products are federally legal per the 2018 Farm Bill. We ship to all 50 states. Hemp Laws are continually becoming stronger and if you have any questions, do not be afraid to reach out!

Will I fail a drug test if I use Five CBD products?

Long term use of Five CBD products will result in a failed THC drug test. Although these products are federally legal per the 2018 Farm Bill, our full spectrum extract contains detectable amounts of THC.

What do you mean by “Fully Powered Full Spectrum”?

We believe that most Full Spectrum CBD companies are giving “Full Spectrum” a bad name. These products often have minimal amounts of minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. The end result is closer to CBD isolate than Full Spectrum.

For Full Spectrum, we believe the most important number is the ratio between CBD and these other hemp compounds. Our goal is to create products with a 5 to 1 ratio. This means for every 5mg of CBD, you are also getting 1mg of these powerful minor compounds that are also found in hemp. Most companies have 25 to 1 ratio if not more! We are redefining what it means to be Full Spectrum.

What is a Minor Cannabinoid?

A Minor Cannabinoid is any other cannabinoid besides CBD found in hemp. Since CBD is by far the most prevalent cannabinoid found in hemp, the other cannabinoids are referred to as the minor cannabinoids. These minor cannabinoids include THC, CBG, CBC, CBN, and over 100 others. Each cannabinoid has its own unique effect on the body!

What are Terpenes?

Many people know terpenes as the compound that give hemp and marijuana plants their unique aromas. Yet, many people do not know that these terpenes do so much more than just making hemp smell good. Recent research shows that these terpenes work together with cannabinoids to create a variety of effects in the body.

Terpenes are not only found in hemp and marijuana. Some terpenes such as limonene are also found in citrus. Limonene has been shown to be helpful in aiding gastrointestinal issues. Terpenes like linalool and myrcene are great at helping relax and fight stress.

When looking for a CBD product, make sure to look at the Certificate of Analysis to ensure it is filled with terpenes!

What are Flavonoids?

Flavonoids provide a variety of health benefits through cell signaling pathways and antioxidant effects. Flavonoids are compounds in plants that give plants their pigmentation (color), filter out UV rays, attract pollinators, and prevent plant diseases. While beneficial to the plant, they also provide key health benefits when consumed.

Flavonoids are essential because they have beneficial effects such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-allergic activity.

The three primary flavonoids found in hemp are Quercetin, Apigenin, and Cannaflavin A. Unique to hemp is Cannaflavin A, which research has shown is a strong anti-inflammatory compound. Quercetin provides anti-oxidant and anti-viral benefits. In addition, Apigenin has anti-inflammatory and stress relief benefits.

What kind of testing is done on Five CBD products?

Each batch of Five CBD is third-party lab tested and guaranteed to be free of contaminants like heavy metals, bacteria, microbial life, mycotoxins and pesticides. You can read five TM ‘s COA’s

Are Hemp Oil and CBD oil the same thing?

The main difference between CBD oil and hemp oil is that hemp oil does not contain significant amounts of CBD. While both are extracted from the hemp plant, CBD oil comes from the flowers and leaves whereas hemp oil comes from the seeds. CBD and other cannabinoids concentrate in the flowers and leaves, which is why we use these parts to create Five hemp products.

Hemp oil is also called “hemp seed oil” because it is made from the seeds of the hemp plant. Hemp seed oil has a multitude of very healthful uses as it can be used as a protein supplement for food, as varnish for wood and is often used in hair and skin products.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a system that is in the body of mammals, like us. Made up of receptors, enzymes and endogenous cannabinoids (the cannabinoids made by your body), this system has receptors located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems.

There are two main types of receptors in the ECS, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brains of mammals, and CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system and immune cells.

These CBD gummies have a little bit of everything—including THC

The United States is still under cannabis prohibition at the federal level, but you may have noticed that CBD has really hit the mainstream in the last couple of years. That’s thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, which cleared the way for hemp-derived products in all 50 states, independent of the status of recreational marijuana.

Most CBD producers that set up shop after the Farm Bill focus solely on CBD. But just like with cannabis, the whole hemp plant works better together when the entire constellation of natural compounds contained in the plant are present, inclusive of a legally-permitted amount of THC (<0.3%).

This is what defines five CBD, makers of true full-spectrum CBD supplements containing a 5:1 ratio of CBD to minor hemp compounds and terpenes that produce a relaxing effect within an hour of consuming.

Unlike traditional CBD products that don’t have an immediate effect that you can “feel,” five products are some of the most potent in minor cannabinoids on the market. five Daily Buzz Gummies, for example, contains 5mg of THC. This is achieved by utilizing the highest-quality hemp extracts and not diluting them with cheaper CBD isolates.

While some people may complain that they tried CBD and it “didn’t work”, five is here to set the story straight. You can “feel” their CBD products because they have the right blend of cannabinoids. And, because federal regulations allow for trace amounts of THC in hemp-based supplements, full-spectrum products like five can still ship nationwide.

Why do I need THC in my CBD product?

With CBD’s rising popularity, there’s a common myth: CBD exclusively, is the beneficial cannabinoid while THC should be avoided due to its intoxicating effects. In reality, THC has significant therapeutic properties of its own, especially when paired with CBD.

In both traditional cannabis and industrial hemp, CBD and THC exist as part of an interconnected network of plant compounds that enhance one another. This includes lesser-known cannabinoids like CBN, CBC, and CBG, along with terpenes and flavonoids. More simply: Together, they’re greater than the sum of their parts.

CBD isolate—that’s CBD completely on its own, as it’s found in many hemp-based products—doesn’t have that same interplay. five CBD’s Full Spectrum products, on the other hand, contain cannabis’s whole ecosystem, and the rich effects that come with it.

THC legality

The Federal Regulations guiding hemp and hemp products is strict: THC may not exceed more than 0.3% of the dry weight of the hemp or its final products; that’s little enough to avoid being intoxicating,

but sufficient to foster the entourage effect—CBD can mitigate the negative side effects of THC.

A widely-cited 2006 study by cannabis researchers Ethan Russo and Geoffrey Guy notes that both THC and CBD have anti-inflammatory potential. When combined, CBD can actually counteract THC’s psychoactive side effects like anxiety and sleepiness. Together, according to Russo and Guy, they could be more beneficial and better-tolerated than either would be on their own.

CBD gummies you can feel

When you see a 5:1 gummy in a recreational dispensary, it tends to refer to a 5:1 ratio of CBD to THC—but cannabis has so much more going on. In five’s Full Spectrum Gummies, 5:1 refers to the ratio of CBD to a select variety of minor hemp compounds, inclusive of THC and other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Meanwhile, five’s flagship product, The Daily Buzz Gummy, is a potent combination of 50mg CBD, 5mg THC, along with other cannabinoids and beneficial hemp compounds.

“These gummies make you feel relaxed and less stressed,” says J.P. Larsen, five CBD, Founder. “2020 has been a tough year for nearly everyone. We made these gummies to help you unwind after a long, stressful day.”

five’s products won’t get you high, but you will feel them. Their 5:1 ratio sets them apart from other CBD products on the market that are diluted and less effective. five offers regular strength gummies with 25mg CBD, extra strength with 50mg CBD (The Daily Buzz), and sleep gummies with 25mg CBD and 3mg melatonin. They also offer deliciously flavored oils and gelcaps.
